Every person yearns to know how they came into being. The things that happened that led into their existence and place they are in are the things that everybody wants to find out and it is because of this common interest that has led to the emergence of books that have tried to explain the human origin. Early scholars also have their own version of the human origin/past but the most common are the facts about the black American history.
The history explains the existence of blacks in the United States which is known to be a country of whites. Many scholars have said that the African Americans were captives brought to the states against their will to work as slaves and were at the mercy of the white people as they were the foreigners.
Names such as colored or Negro were used to refer to the blacks because of their skin color. There used to be discrimination in those days in that there were different schools, churches, jobs etc. For the whites and blacks. This reached to a point whereby the whites lived and had everything that was considered good or better while the blacks had the bad or lowest of things.
As this discrimination and slavery continued things became bad, the African American could not take it anymore and thought they had had enough. They started protesting to be treated as humans and they wanted to be given equal rights as well. Nothing could calm them down until their voices were heard, and as history dictates they finally achieved their goal.
The fights and protests went on for a while until the two parties came into an agreement. People such as Martin Luther will always be remembered for the impact they made for the people of United States. He made a historic speech in the year nineteen sixty three where he said that he envisions a country in which the blacks and whites can exist together in peace and in a country where discrimination does not exist.
Today, the peace that exists in the United States is evident. A black president had been chosen by both the whites and blacks to head them. Both the white skinned and dark skinned work in same offices, go to the same schools and even marry each other. They have helped each other in building the country and in many other situations.
Every year, the African American history is remembered in February and they remember their freedom fighters and how far they have come as a nation. Everyone in the country has equal rights and freedom, discrimination because of the skin color became a thing of the past and it was long forgotten, those who still use the names Negro or colored to refer to any dark skinned person face serious problems with the law.
The color of the skin is not a reason to be discriminated. The days in which people used to be discriminated because of their skin color are long gone and buried. People need to focus ahead on the future and let the past remain the way it is and not use it to determine their future.
