The Increased Concerns Of Innacurate Military Discharge

By Laura Scott

Over the years, military discharges have been used as a good way of initiating good conduct in the military. More so, there are special discharges that have been used as a means of appreciating the well-performing men and women of the army. However, in the past countable decades, there has been a rise in the number of innacurate military discharge cases which hardens the life of a person while out of service since they make one not liable to their benefits of service.

To most of our men and women of service, these discharges that they were given were contrary to what they are or do. There are cases where a soldier will be dismissed for following the right protocol in the event of a concern that needs reporting.

The majority of the discharged officers have come to a conclusion that the chiefs of the army are using this wrongful dismissal as a scheme of reducing the number of officers in the service. With a reduction of men and women within the military, the cost of paying for their retirement schemes and benefits such as health benefits will reduce also.

It has raised the suspicion of many not only the veterans but also commoners that the reason behind the discharging of most veterans of late has been either personality disorders or even adjustment disorders. The coincidence is shocking. These two health concerns are very secretive and cannot be easily reviled by looking at the said patient. It is only a psychiatrist who can be able to diagnose confidently and make a conclusion.

To most veterans, sexual assault seems to be the best horror that our men and women appear to suffer from their colleagues and even their superiors. It expected that one reports such incidence. To most victims, the best option is to maintain silent as reporting may create bad blood between one and their superiors. The few who report have found themselves discharged on the grounds of suffering from personality disorders.

The cause of discharge is not only the reason that makes veterans believe that they discharge wrong. The procedure also taken in most cases is not satisfactory to prove that indeed a person should be discharged on the mentioned grounds. The victim is only forced to sign these discharge papers I most cases being made to believe it is of benefit to them.

Since the year 2010, there has been a notable reduction of these inaccurate discharges. The decline in these cases can be mainly attributed to the fact that the Senate had intervened into this matter. It is important to note that the initial veterans experienced worse than this. During their times, the dismissal was targeted to those officials who seemed to be smarter than their superiors.

The innervation of the Senate into this matter led to a review of DoD policies related to discharging of officers. With these new guidelines, one is assured for a successful appeal of their discharge. If one appeals within the first six months after the dismissal, they can be able to have their discharge upgraded. It is however not an assurance of these new policies will apply to those already discharged
