Getting The Best Crane Rentals For Your Next Project

By Samuel Bojorquez

When you are beginning that large, or even that small construction project, you have to have everything lined up at the right time. You need all of the trades scheduled in. You need to have a dumpster for trash and debris. You even need to call a professional cleaning company to be present. One of the most important things you need to have available is a crane to move everything into place when it is needed. That is when you should really consider contacting a company who deals with crane rentals.

Many building contractors believe the best choice for this heavy equipment is to buy it. There are a few problems with this and, as you will discover, the costs associated with the purchase of all of the equipment is more than the cost of the items. Looking at some of these costs will help you understand why is is probably better to rent what you need.

The main reason for renting instead of buying is the original cost of the stuff. It is, as you know, very expensive. This ties a lot of your capital up, especially since a good portion of time it is sitting someplace not being used. Credit purchases are the usual course of action, however, that can impact your flexibility in other financial transactions.

The purchase of a crane to put into your permanent inventory of equipment will also require you to hire an operator for it. This is a full time person, fully trained and all of the employee expenses that go with it. This means health care, training and everything else. Renting that cranes bring with it an operator that already knows this model and will work for you.

That new purchase will also have to be maintained. This means daily and periodic checks to keep it in perfect condition. This also means hiring another full time employee with appropriate training for this maintenance. This could get fairly expensive as fluids and other supplies will need to be on hand at all times. By renting, you bypass all of this as the company who owns it takes care of this.

If something breaks on that machine, and everything on it is expensive, you must buy a replacement part or parts. This is in addition to the daily maintenance and can cost a lot of money, occasionally, when you least expect it to happen, of course. When you add in the delay in work this can cause you are talking about missed deadlines which could cost bonuses or incur fines.

An issue with equipment, such as cranes that you buy, present problems when the project is finished. You must store it somewhere and it still must be maintained as it can not simply set idle. The building or renting of a storage facility can cost more than being able to call the rental company and having them come and pick it up.

Having all of the equipment, especially that important crane every project needs, ready and available is a great business model. It is what you need to keep moving along with that job. It keeps everyone busy and you making money. It also saves more money and trouble when you realize it can be used and someone else has to maintain it.
