So if one has a child and would like him to learn reading, then here are some steps on how to teach a kid to read.
Now when one would start off with reading, he has to start with easy reading books that would have a lot of images. Now these easy books would have a lot of basic words that can be seen very easily because of the really big font. Now the child may actually progress further to books with bigger words later on when his reading skills have already improved.
Assuming that the child already knows how to read each individual letter, the parent may now teach him how to combine the letters to form a word. Now when starting out, the parent has to go very slowly so that the child can follow. Now if the child already knows how to pronounce that word, then the parent can go faster.
Now when starting off, start with one page first and make sure that the child repeats the sounding out of the words. Now only when the kid has already perfected reading the first page that he can go on to the next. So start off with the first sentence and then the second until he is able to finish the whole page.
Aside from teaching them how to sound out the words, the parents also have they make sure that their kids know the meaning of the words they are sounding. Now when the parent has already read the very first page, then he would have to explain what the page is trying to say. Of course he has to explain slowly so that the kid may grasp the meaning.
After the first page, then the next thing to do would be to have a question and answer session with the child. Anything that the child would want to ask, he may ask during this time like how to pronounce a certain word or what the word would mean. Once all of those questions are answered, then the child should repeat again and explain.

Reading aloud is very important because it would help the kids be able to remember what they are reading.
