First of, a disclaimer that this is not about that movie from the 80s about high school students finding the meaning of life after a full day of detention. This is literally about people getting breakfast together. It is very difficult to argue that this is the most perfect meal for any time of the day. There is nothing wrong with getting toast, eggs and bacon at midnight.

Friends who take the time to get a the most important meal of the day with you, are no doubt the best. Breakfast Club St Catharines, ON fosters the this with their members. They do this thrice a week at a local Angels Diner. The diner has a wide variety of meals from morning to evening.

Angels Diner has a good range of omelets, Belgian Waffles, eggs benedict and other varieties of the usual menu for mornings. Having a bunch of strangers gathering in a diner for breakfast thrice a month with this menu is definitely something to look forward to. The 50s interior design is reminiscent of the vintage charm from that era.

And it is not just about exchanging gossip with each other, about whose kids are going to university and what not, it is about forming profound relationships. This makes the individual a more empathetic and functioning member of society. It is amazing that socializing with others can have cognitive and psychological benefits.

Studies show that even just engaging in a ten minute conversation, that is not argumentative in nature, can boost the solving and cognitive functions of the brain. Being friendly with others can improve our mental functions because we try to see the perspective and interpret what they say. Isolation due to growing older may dull the necessary brain functions that is exercised by socializing.

Persons who like to socialize have better physical health and have a higher chance of living longer. Social engagement can also boost mental health and have a more likely chance to steer clear away from depression. Being friendly with people and making an effort to established social connections can also greatly improve mood.
